Honestly, I do not know why Biology should be a part of the FE exam, although I like all the sciences that end with some sort of -logy at the end of their names. I am not sure how biology is related to engineering but maybe one could say isn't nature just a beautiful engineering product; an engineering of living existences? Am I right or do I sound so nerd-ish!?
Well, anyway, whether it is my desire to have this subject in the exam or no, it is going to be there and I am supposed to have the fundamental knowledge about the living creatures and whatever their constituents are.
According to The Free Dictionary Biology is "the study of living organisms, divided into many specialized fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and distribution." That is, bio (living or life) + logy (knowing, study, or discipline) or the knowing of life. Similarly, anthropology, the study of humans, dermatology, has to do with skin.
So, here we go learning about biology divided in different chapters:
Toxicology
Industrial Hygiene
Bioprocessing
You see we even have toxicology!! Who wants to know toxics?!! Britney Spears? Now guess who this picture belongs to? ---> Gregor Mendel, the father of modern genetics!, the big man who played with peas and knew how to design an experiment.
