Well, take your car to the mechanics, hah? What does it have to with FE exam now?! It's written in Wikipedia that "Mechanics is an area of science concerned with the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effects of the bodies on their environment. The scientific discipline has its origins in Ancient Greece with the writings of Aristotle and Archimedes".
If you push a tree will it move? what if you hit a football? Some remain static with no movement, some move and start to be dynamic. It's all about the forces and displacements in physics. That's when you take your car to the mechanics and see what is moving, what is/is not supposed to move, and what is preventing them from doing their job!
This broad field of science is divided into two less broad areas:
Pulleys, Cables, and Friction
Centroids and Inertia
Energy and Work
