How fun is your work environment? Should it even be fun in the first place or fun would make it not the best place to work? Would 'fun' increase the efficiency of the work and productivity or it would simply make people wayward and not allow them to focus and concentrate on their work? I don’t really know the answer to these questions. If it was up to me, I would have wanted my environment to be as fun as possible and I know myself to not get swamped in the fun aspect of the ambient but rather use it to refresh and enhance my performance; but probably not everyone is like that and I don’t know if we can generalize my point of view for everyone! The reason I just wanted to write a note about this was that I always wanted my workplace to have an area with lazy boys and sofas and everything to relax at downtime, those times that you would just simply want to lay down, or don’t work for a while or distracted, so you could go there and refuel and come back to your desk. Well, we don’t currently have or ever had such an environment in my workplace, that’s it! When I become the person, who makes decision in these respects I will just make sure that there is such an area in our workplace. To me, it’s a necessity that makes people feel good and therefore enhance the results.
But that wasn’t the only reason I wanted to write this. On Monday, April 1st, 2019 I stepped in the office area in the 3rd floor of the AECOM office in midtown Atlanta, GA. Right next to the elevator, under the big AECOM sign was a placard with the words “School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”. I had to walk around the corridors and see what else are out there and there were some really cool labeling from the world of Harry Potter. Just wanted to say kudos to whoever came up with the idea because I’m sure everybody would definitely call that a fun environment… anyway, this was an excuse to write a bit about my workplace, although Harry Potter and his friends’ age group does not necessarily match that of people working at AECOM, lol.
